Almost Lost Hope
It was my first trip to Italy - I didn't get a chance to travel much in my line of work. I'm a doctor with a private practice, so I don't usually go on long vacations.
But I decided to have an easy summer and visit Padova, charming Italian town. I also had one additional reason: I wanted to meet a guy with whom I was talking over the internet for a long time.
'I don't see a lot of black women dating in Padova', he told me once, and I replied that I'll just have to be a pioneer. He asked me out on a date as soon as I arrived, and told me to wait for him at the Touch Restaurant.
I'm not a big fan of seafood (try one bad calamari and everything tastes wrong) but he managed to persuade me. I was waiting for him well over an hour and started to lose hope; it would be the first time ever that a guy stood me up.
But he finally showed up carrying a bouquet of roses and said: 'I don't see a lot of black women dating here, but you are fantastic'. That was only the beginning of a wonderful night.
